Omaha, NE   The Light House  156th and Maple (North Side)
If you cruise towards the coordinates of 156th and Maple you will run into a bar that over looks the ocean and what more fitting name for this bar then the Light House!  Inside you will find Keno, Darts,       and they even have bands playing there on the weekends.  I went there for one purpose FOOD!  I was starving and had heard that they had very good food and reasonable pricing. So I had to check it out for myself.  I went in last Friday afternoon around 3:00pm.  There was two tables of people and another two sets of two around the bar area.  I pulled up a seat at the bar and began to read my All About Beer Magazine.  Within two minutes the bartender was over to me and asked if I would like something to drink, I ordered Coor’s Light bottle and watched her pull it from the cooler, as she did this a cold vapor cloud rose with a consistent haze.  A very good sign indeed to the start of my dining experience.  Just as I expected the beer was ice cold!  I started my lunch with an order of their wings and coming from a wings lover they were some of the best wings you will find in Omaha. They were the perfect size and were covered evenly in hot sauce.  After I devoured these I ordered a Steak Philly as my main course, this would definitely rank within the top three places in Omaha to get a great Philly.  Every bite was mouth watering and price as I had heard was right on.  After I had finished my second bottled beer I need to test their tap temperatures.  I was nervous! Everything thus far had been going so perfect, that I didn’t want to ruin it with a bad beer pour or even worse warm tap beer.  But as with everything else, I was in the clear.  The bartender went over to the cooler next to the one she had earlier pulled my Coor’s Light from and pulled out a Frosty Mug from a haze of cold now filling the air.  She closed the door cutting off the cloud and headed towards the taps, where I had her pour me a Boulevard Wheat. Now this is where I was really impressed.  She asked me if I wanted a lemon, not just adding it to my beer, but actually asking me first.  I declined as beer should not be tainted with fruit.  As I drank this Artic Frost of a Beer, I knew I needed to spread the word about this hidden secret.  So all of you out there who want a nice cold beer or amazing food, check out the Light House located on the north side of 156th and Maple, oh yeah it doesn’t actually over look the ocean, but they do have a great Light House model inside.

Until the next location,
D
